While visiting Puerto Rico we spend the majority of time in and around the main city of San Juan, on the north side of the island. We were therefore really excited to have the opportunity to visit a totally different part of Puerto Rico. The Hilton Ponce Golf and Casino Resort is a family friendly resort with loads of amenities including multiple pools, a golf course, a beach, and a casino. Read on to get our full review of the Hilton Ponce Resort including all the details you’ll want to know before you plan your stay!
Location:
Located a couple of hours south of San Juan, the Hilton Ponce is on the south west side of Puerto Rico. We couldn’t find any transfer or public transportation options to get us there so we ended up renting a car. The drive itself was relatively easy and straightforward with a highway that goes the entire way there. We did meet some construction on the way back but hopefully by the time you’re reading this, that’s long done! The resort is just outside of the main town and unfortunately we didn’t have any time to explore Ponce, but we heard great things about its cute downtown!
Rooms:
Our king room was located on the 4th floor and our favourite part was definitely the incredible view of the pool, beach and many palm trees! The room felt large and very comfortable with a big king sized bed, a desk and a little nook with coffee maker and a fridge. The bathroom was also large and bright. Though perhaps not the most modern room, it felt clean and comfortable with a nice beachy vibe.

Amenities:
The resort has loads of amenities including what is likely one of the best golf courses on the entire island. Although we didn’t play any golf while there we did get to take a golf cart around the course and can definitely attest that it’s a beautiful one! The golf club is also great with a restaurant and absolutely stunning pool! You could walk there from the resort but the easiest way is to get the resort provided shuttle to take you back and forth.
On the main resort you’ll find a big pool with a slide, jacuzzi and loads of loungers. A large well equipped gym, as well as a beach bar/restaurant, and a couple of other restaurants and a beach area. Although there is a large casino on site, we aren’t gamblers- thankfully it’s tucked away enough that you won’t notice it much, but if you’re interested in going it’s very easy to find.
Pros:
Beautiful beach area and the sunsets are incredible (don’t miss it).
Lovely pool with children’s area and lots of loungers.
Large rooms with sea views.
We hear that the town of Ponce is fun to explore but unfortunately we enjoyed the resort so much we didn’t make it there!
Great golf course.
Cons:
The only way to reach there is by car.
There is an extra fee for parking.
If you’re looking primarily for a romantic getaway this might be too family friendly.
