Situated less than two hours from Cancun, Isla Holbox is a quiet, hidden gem of Mexico. Isla Holbox is specifically known for its stunning beaches where you can practically walk on the water because of its sandbars that stretch for miles. If you’re like us, the last thing we think of when getting to a relatively remote island, far off the coast, is a water taxi. However, after researching the easiest, quickest, and least expensive way to get to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, off the coast of Belize, we found the water taxi (ferry) was the best way. We recently travelled to Mexico with Sunwing Vacations to visit the beautiful Paradisus Playa Del Carmen. The Paradisus Playa Del Carmen is a relatively large resort, but it’s also easily walkable. It’s divided into two sections, Esmeralda, which is the family side- and La Perla, the adults only side- which is where we stayed. When you stay at La Perla you also get access to all the Esmeralda amenities.
What exactly is a beach club? I found myself pondering this question on a recent trip to Tulum, Mexico. Based on other beach towns and Caribbean Islands that I’d previously visited, I always assumed that by designating itself a beach club, a business is offering up its beach space and services to the public (for fees or expectation of food and/or beverages purchases). In Tulum, however, this doesn’t necessarily ring true.
