From the city to Kraków, our next stop is Wroclaw. We mainly visited the Christmas market which is considered by some to be the best market in all of Poland. We ended up accidentally picking one of the busiest days to visit the market, but we had so much fun. In addition, there were carnival rides, some Christmas gnomes and even a performance by a loud Santa Clause along with a few of his sidekicks.

Today is extra exciting because we are in the city of Wroclaw at the Christmas market. We were told that this is the best one in all of Poland. This is our second time in Poland. We took a trip here two years ago and we fell in love with the place. However, this time we are just concentrating on the Christmas markets. We thought that Friday and Saturday would be busy so we came on Sunday. However, it ended up being one of the busiest days. The Christmas market looks like a carnival and there are lights everywhere. The main square seemed to be louder with announcements happening regularly, but the market is so big we managed to get away from the loud hustle and bustle a bit.

Wroclaw is famous for its gnomes. They are little tiny iron gnomes that are hidden throughout the city. If you come here, you are probably going spend some time in search of them. They are numerous. There are also apps and guides to help you look for them. Moreover, for the market they’ve put up buildings that look like gingerbread homes in the square. Inside them, you can get some drinks too. We stopped in one and got two little cups of hot chocolate with some amaretto (to give a bit of a kick). But, there are many different options such as different kinds of mulled wines and beer. The hot chocolate tastes like cherry almond or something similar. It is so delicious.

After our hot drinks, we came back to the square to find a performance going on by Santa Clause, Frosty and other sidekicks. This was pretty much the loudest and most aggressive Santa we have ever seen. We could not understand a word of what they were saying since it was in Polish. We noticed that it was so busy here so we decided to take a little break. We went away for a couple of hours to have a drink or two and we came back. It was so much better.

The Christmas tree in the square is very big and quite modern. There are white, gold and blue colours on the tree. It is very symmetrical. We noticed that all the snowflakes are in the same spot. Also, it has the same amount of ornaments in each layer. In addition, all the snowflakes are white. It is a beautiful and very unique tree. It did start to rain while we were enjoying the beautiful square. It is all lit up at Christmas. We came here a couple of years ago in the summer and it was so nice. It is really memorable. The buildings have unique windows, and peaked roofs and are all in different colours. They look like gingerbread houses.

Our next stop was trying gingerbread. We came to a gingerbread place where we found a lot of options. There are a lot of designs and colours to choose from. Generally, people buy them to give them as gifts but we decided we we’ll eat them. We chose a purple moose with pink polka dots. It tastes yummy and crunchy. It is a little bit sweet and spicy. You can also taste the nutmeg and cinnamon. We don’t often have gingerbread but this one definitely good. We would prefer it if it was hot but we do like crunchy. It is just a lot of fun here in the Christmas market.

If you are trying to decide which Christmas Market to visit in Poland, we found the Wroclaw Market a lot more child oriented with rides, games and performances as compared to Krakow. The Krakow Christmas Market, while fun, feels a bit more laid back and more for adults than children.
