6 Dishes you must try in Hoi An, Vietnam. Our amazing Vietnamese food tour.

Welcome to our incredible food tour in the beautiful city of Hội An in Vietnam! For the first time ever, we’re trying authentic Vietnamese food in Vietnam.

We have come to one of the most recommended places in Vietnam, the city of Hội An. We’re spending the day eating only Vietnamese food. We’re going to some of the most popular restaurants like Morning Glory, Bánh Mì Phuọng and Raw Coffee. We are eating various delicious dishes that we recommend you try whenever you visit Hội An.

Trying an amazing Bánh Mì sandwich in Vietnam

Bánh Mì sandwich

Our first stop was in a place called Bánh Mì Phuọng. While waiting for our food to arrive, we tried a really good local beer called Larue. Then our main dish came. The Bánh Mì sandwich is one of the most popular dishes in Vietnam. In fact, Anthony Bourdain called Bánh Mì Phuọng’s mixed Bánh Mì his favourite sandwich. So we decided to try the mixed one and the chicken one. The mixed sandwich was delicious. It had some pork, pate, and chicken. The bread is freshly baked and topped with cilantro. The sandwich had some citrusy dressing and it had some juicy fatty deliciousness to it. The bread for the sandwich was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken sandwich had a little bit of green onion, cucumber, and cilantro with some delicious sauce. The Bánh Mì sandwich just might be the best sandwich you will ever try.

Trying Cao Lầu for the first time.

Cao Lầu

Our second Vietnamese dish is Cao Lầu which is served with a bowl of greens on the side. It has noodles at the bottom and soft and crispy pork at the top. It is a visually fun dish to look at. The noodles are pure perfection and the balance of the tender and crispy pork is really good. The texture of the noodle is thick and there is a little broth as well. The taste was absolutely delicious. Cao Lầu originates from this area of Vietnam and is must try when in Hoi An.

Trying Egg Coffee in Vietnam

Egg Coffee

Vietnam is very famous for its coffee culture. We had heard of a specific coffee that must be tried, which is egg coffee. We came to a place called Raw Coffee. At first, the name egg coffee sounds very strange, but it is quite delicious. The coffee is served in a water bath to keep it warm. The egg concoction is made by mixing egg yolk and sweetened condensed milk for ten minutes until it gets fluffy. It is super-rich and decadent to the point that you would never know that it is made with eggs. It tastes like a dessert such as tiramisu or custard.

An authentic Hội An meal

Banh Hap Nhan Gà, Com Gà and Cha Gio

For our dinner, we headed to a place called Morning Glory. It is one of the most popular restaurants in the old town of Hội An. We ordered three dishes. The first one is Banh Hap Nhan Gà which is a chicken and ginger dumplings. The dumplings were glistening in a light soy sauce. The chicken was cooked slowly to perfection and the ginger was a bit spicy. Overall, it was delicious. Our second dish was Com Gà. It is Hoi An’s version of chicken rice and is served with some greens and a hot sauce. The way to eat it is to mix everything up. The texture of the chicken was a bit rubbery and slightly chewy but not in a bad way. The rice was soft and the spiciness gave the dish a savoury taste. Our last dish is Cha Gio. It is a fried pork spring roll. The outside of the spring rolls were appetizing and the spices used were tasty. These are some of the best fried spring rolls we’ve ever had. Our authentic Vietnamese dinner was a success.
